The United Nations Industrial Development Organization defines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as “a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders.” This translates to the Triple Bottom Line, i.e., the balance between the social, economic and environmental impact of the business.
In India, Csr is governed by the Companies’ Act, Sec. 135, Schedule VII, which mandates a corporate to act for social well-being beyond it’s own people and premises.
Sustainability, in context of CSR, refers to the judicious use of resources – natural and human – to promote development and progress today without comprising the potential for the same for future generations.
Charity is one aspect under CSR, but cannot be considered CSR on its own. This is because charities aim to raise funds towards specific causes, whereas CSR involves investment on the parts of organizations towards people and the planet.
Quick Heal’s initiatives in CSR are designed with the aim of empowering future leaders to drive progress from within communities. The initiatives use innovative solutions to tackle major challenges to development as listed in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Quick Heal Foundation is the implementing body for Quick Heal’s CSR activities.
The key focus areas for Quick Heal’s endeavours in CSR are: eradicating extreme hunger and poverty, promotion of education and promotion of cybersecurity.
Quick Heal’s focus areas have been conceptualized with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in mind. They highlight key challenges to development, which our CSR initiatives seek to address. This allows a more comprehensive approach towards our vision to ensure that more individuals are empowered to pursue success, knowing that their personal and professional lives are secured.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) list 17 goals for companies and nations to achieve by 2030. The Quick Heal initiatives in CSR have been designed to address the issues highlighted by these goals, including but not limited to: No Poverty, Good Health and Well Being, Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities and Partnerships for the Goals.
Corporate social responsibility at Quick Heal is implemented by a hardworking and dedicated team, led by CSR Committee at the Board level. Committee Members include:Dr. Kailash Katkar, MD and CEO, Dr. Sanjay Katkar, MD and CTO and Ms. Priti Rao, Additional Director (Independent Category). The team is mentored by Mrs. Anupama Katkar, while the execution is over-seen by Mr. Ajay Shirke.
Quick Heal has worked with several organizations with an aim to encourage cooperation and collaboration towards progress, including Maharashtra Cyber, Pankh Sanstha, Pune Police, Kasba Ganpati Samajik Sanstha, Donate Aid Society, Big FM, Theatre Academy, Impression Lab and several colleges across Maharashtra.
Hunger and poverty are the primary challenges to development. As part of Project Disha, a tribal development initiative, Quick Heal works closely with the Katkari tribe. Starting with creation of a community center, the individuals in the community are provided with mid-day meals, day care centres, increased opportunities for children to go to school and livelihood development.
Quality education promises the holistic development of children. In this regard, the Life Skills Education initiative collaborates with several schools across Pune, to conduct sessions on crucial life skills. The sessions help increase awareness about sexual health and other physiological, psychological and social changes during adolescence. Supporting this is the Shaalangan Counseling Centre. It provides at-risk students a means of expressing themselves, addressing problems they face and receiving guidance. Activities conducted include personal counselling sessions, group sessions, parent and teacher orientations and more.
With over 25 years of experience in the domain of security solutions, we are able to use our innovations to give back to society as well. We seek to empower future professionals in the IT security sector. Through workshops with trained teachers, volunteers and curated resources, we help enable better economic opportunities and a workforce of an even higher caliber. We promote cybersecurity awareness through a one-of-its-kind film festival, to help protect citizens from cyber-crime. We also run and manage a portal where anyone and everyone can learn secured programming!
Every initiative produces a particular output, i.e., the immediate short-term result it generates. However, at Quick Heal, our focus is on creating an outcome-oriented impact – the long-term transformation our initiatives have ushered in individuals, their communities and society overall.

Quick Heal’s initiatives seek to do more than provide resources at the grassroot level. They are forward-looking and look to impact from the individual level to that of communities and society as a whole. Emphasis is placed on identifying potential leaders empowering them to initiate change within their communities, passing on the knowledge and advantages they have gained. Your donations enable us to improve these efforts and reach more change-makers. It is investment in the long-term future of entire communities.
